Frequently asked questions

How quickly is the MAKINA ready to use?

In just 9 minutes. The powerful 1800 W heating element brings the 3 litre insulated copper boiler up to temperature fast, so you are pulling your first shot while other machines are still warming up.

Can I make coffee and froth milk at the same time?

Yes. Thanks to the heat exchanger (HX) you can brew espresso and use the steam wand simultaneously, without waiting in between.

Do I need a fixed water connection?

No. The MAKINA has a 2 litre water tank, and can be switched to a direct water connection whenever you like: the connection kit is built in as standard.

Why a rotary pump instead of a vibration pump?

A rotary pump is quiet, builds up pressure gradually and keeps a stable 9 bar throughout the extraction, just like in professional espresso machines. A vibration pump is cheaper and smaller, but noisy and less stable.

What does PID control do?

The PID keeps the boiler at exactly the temperature you set, instead of letting it swing up and down like a traditional thermostat. That gives you consistent extractions, and lets you experiment with different roasts and temperatures.

How many cups can the MAKINA make?

The large 3 litre boiler and 1800 W heater easily handle up to 200 cups a day, which makes the MAKINA just as suited to an office or small coffee concept as to your kitchen.

What is included in the Makina deal?

The MAKINA S7 Pro-PID together with a Quamar Q50E grinder, home barista training for two persons, shipping and installation, and 1kg of freshly roasted coffee beans.

Where is the MAKINA made?

The MAKINA is designed in Amsterdam and carefully assembled by hand in Italy, with high-quality components and no compromises on parts or functions.
